Pats original training was in Solution Focused
Therapy a form of therapy that looks to
solutions rather than problems in the course of treatment.
It is a kind of therapy that brings hope and possibilities
rather than getting bogged down in dysfunction and
ways of behaving that dont work. Many like it
for the way it brings rapid change.
Pat
has had experience and training at all parts of the
developmental spectrum. She did her undergraduate
work at UC Davis in child development, worked with
young children in a child-development center, and
taught parent education classes for Fremont Unified
School district for many years. This means she feels
comfortable working with people of all ages. Since
her own divorce in 1988, she has devoted herself to
helping adults and children transition through divorce.
The
local clergy often make referrals to Pat because of
her Christian background and training. Christian counseling
can be an essential adjunct for some people, and Pat
is skilled at bringing Christian resources to therapy.
Of course, no assumption is made about the desire
to include Christian counseling in treatment.
Pat
has a caring, comfortable style and way of asking
thought provoking questions that bring about a new
view and sets the course for change.
